Cape Coral
Cape Coral is a large peninsula on the Gulf Coast, bordered by the Caloosahatchee River on the east and Matlacha Pass on the west. At 114 square miles, Cape Coral is the second largest city in the state of Florida, and is the largest city in Southwest Florida. Cape Coral also boasts the largest population in Lee County, with almost 150,000 residents.
Built about 40 years ago Cape Coral is one of the largest master-planned communities in the United States. Its location and potential for endless opportunities for waterfront living made it a sound investment for the Rosen Brothers who purchased the land, built over 400 miles of canals, and created around 350,000 residential building sites. These waterfront residences, which provided direct boat access to the Gulf of Mexico, attracted many people from other states, and over the years Cape Coral has continued to be one of the most desirable locations to live. The residents enjoy a low crime rate, a sound economic climate and a good quality of life.
Cape Coral is home to more than 7,500 businesses, many of these being micro-enterprises, with fewer than 50 employees. The area has a young and skilled labor force with businesses having the opportunity to choose from a pool of more than 383,000 skilled workers from the tri-county area. Cape Coral also has a strong retail market, and the business community is continuing to grow.
