Estero

Estero is a vibrant community located between Fort Myers to the north and Bonita Springs to the south. It is within easy reach of Southwest Florida’s major north-south corridors, I-75 and US-41. To the east lies Estero Bay, a protected aquatic preserve. Estero is an unincorporated area of Lee County with no municipal boundaries of its own, but its core community encompasses 26 square miles.

Years ago Estero was a sleepy community of citrus and cattle farms. Over recent years as part-time residents who escaped to Florida during winter months have made Estero their permanent home, and young professionals have been attracted to Estero’s incomparable lifestyle, the area has become a thriving business community.

Estero residents are proud of their community and many steps are taken to ensure the continued growth and development does not impact the natural beauty and charm of the area. Whilst the historical landmarks have been preserved, up-to-date amenities and modern residential communities now dot the landscape.

Estero has been identified in the press as “the epicenter of growth in southwest Florida.” Its rapid growth is quickly making 2000 Census figures obsolete – the reported population of 9,503 in the 2000 census is predicted to have grown to 37,800 by 2007. In addition property values have also been on the increase. in just four years, the median home value has doubled.
